Joshua vs. Miller official for June 1st
The two are a combined 45-0-1 with 41 knockouts.
The fight will air on DAZN in the States and on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK.
Joshua (22-0, 21 KO) was originally slated to return on April 13th in Wembley, but after Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury began rematch talks and negotiations with Dillian Whyte fell through, he elected to face Miller (23-0-1, 20 TKO) instead.
Whyte has since been ordered to face Dominic Breazeale for a crack at the Wilder-Fury 2 winner.
Depending on how past-it you think Alexander Povetkin is, this is arguably Joshua’s toughest opponent since his excellent war with Wladimir Klitschko in 2017. Miller, besides being oh-lawd-he-comin’ big, has a surprisingly good gas tank and throws at a higher clip than most other heavyweights. At the same time, “Big Baby’s” best win is either Gerald Washington or Johann Duhaupas, making this a gargantuan step up.
I’m guessing we get some kind of show, whether it be an instantaneous knockout or two large gentlemen throwing heat for a while. Props to Hearn and co. for not putting this on PPV Stateside; this is an excellent opportunity for them to build Joshua’s profile across the pond.
