Flyweight Bout:
Joseph Benavidez vs Deiveson "Dues da Guerra" Alcantara
In a fight he won without much trouble, Joseph Benavidez (26-5) defeated Alex Perez by way of TKO in the first round, in Las Vegas. The victory made the 34-year-old bounce back from a split decision loss to Sergio Pettis back June, which was Joseph’s sole loss in his last eight outings.
Quickly rising through the ranks of the flyweight division, Deiveson Figueiredo (15-0) scored his biggest win in his last fight, when he knocked out former title challenger John Moraga back in August. The victory put ‘God of War’ on a four-fight winning streak in the Octagon, having also defeated the likes of Marco Beltran, Jarred Brooks, and Joseph Morales.
UFC 233 is set for the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on January 26. A superfight between bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw and flyweight titleholder, Henry Cejudo, for the 125 belt, will be on the card.
