Jason Sosa-Robinson Castellanos set for Nov. 25

With a promise for another appearance on HBO against a titleholder, Sosa and Castellanos will be meeting in a de facto title eliminator.

Junior lightweights Jason Sosa (20-2-4, 15 KOs) and Robinson Castellanos (24-13, 14 KOs) have just been scheduled to appear on an HBO card set for November 25th at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, headlined by Sergey Kovalev and Vyacheslav Sharbranskyy. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to hurricane relief efforts for Puerto Rico and Mexico City, which was rocked by an earthquake, when buyers enter the code ‘LATINOSUNIDOS’ on Ticketmaster, as reported by ESPN.

The deal in this fight is that the winner of Sosa-Castellanos has been promised a spot on another HBO card for a chance at a world title, against the winner of either Jezreel Corrales vs. Alberto Machado this weekend or a prospective Dec. 9th fight between Miguel Berchelt and Orlando Salido.

"Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico," Sosa said. "I have been living there for the last few months and I opened a business there. Now to see the destruction and devastation that my people are going through, it breaks my heart. It was very difficult for me to leave and begin my training camp back in New Jersey to get ready for the fight against Castellanos.

"This fight is important for many reasons. It is the beginning of the road to becoming champion again and it is my way of giving Puerto Rico a reason to smile and be proud. They are my biggest supporters and that little island shows me so much love. I can't do much, but I can show them that this win is for them. I want to thank Castellanos and HBO for this opportunity."

Sosa, 29, is most recently coming off a lopsided beating at the hands of Vasyl Lomachenko this past April while Castellanos, 35, lost a technical decision to Jezreel Corrales in July. Both fighters are anxious to bounce back from defeat and get back into title contention.
