John Makdessi calls out ‘f--king punk’ Mickey Gall for injuring him in sparring

John Makdessi is furious with former sparring partner Mickey Gall.

UFC lightweight striker John Makdessi will fight Abel Trujillo at UFC on FOX 26, but ‘The Bull’ was originally scheduled to square off with Sage Northcutt in July.

Makdessi, however, was forced to pull out of the Northcutt bout due to injury and, until now, the 32-year-old had kept quiet on what exactly led to his withdrawal from UFC 214.

Speaking to Amy Kaplan of FanSided in a recent interview, Makdessi claimed that UFC prospect Mickey Gall was responsible for his injury. According to Makdessi, Gall went too hard in sparring and landed a suplex. The Canadian landed awkwardly on his shoulder and knew he was in trouble.

“Mickey gall is a f**king punk,” Makdessi said. “He’s a deceiving, fake a** b***ch.”

“I heard a crunch and the pain was immediate,” Makdessi said of his shoulder sprain. “I really didn’t want to cause a commotion but I looked in his eyes and thought ‘Are you a f**king idiot?'”

Gall did not return a request for comment from BloodyElbow.com at the time of this writing.

Makdessi, who has trained at the world renowned Tristar since his amateur days, said they didn’t back him up when he told them what had happened and has decided to part ways with the MMA gym.

“I don’t feel like it’s my home,” he said. “I never felt like it was my home. I was never really happy there, but I do appreciate what they did for me.”

Makdessi, though, hasn’t left Tristar on bad terms and wants them to know that it was nothing personal.

“I’m not saying it’s a bad gym. It’s just about what works for me and doesn’t work for me. I’m not disrespecting anybody, I want that to be very clear. I’m not bitter. In the end, I disrespected myself by letting other people dictate my way.”

Makdessi will now train with Wisconsin’s Duke Roufus in preparation for Trujillo.

UFC on FOX 26, which features Makdessi vs. Trujillo on the prelims, takes place on December 16 at the Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Gall, who has yet to respond to Makdessi, returns to the Octagon against Randy Brown at UFC 217 on Nov. 4.
