Lakers to work out Ivan Rabb, Cameron Oliver and more 2017 NBA Draft prospects

Los Angeles’ pre-draft preparation continues Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t taking any days off as they prepare for the 2017 NBA Draft. After holding a Memorial Day workout featuring Jordan Bell and other assorted draft prospects, the Lakers announced they’ll be back at their facility Tuesday to look at six more players.

Jaron Blossomgame of Clemson, Sterling Brown of SMU, Tyler Dorsey of Oregon, Cameron Oliver of Nevada, Ivan Rabb of the University of California at Berkeley and Xavier Rathan-Mayes of Florida State are all set to work out for the Lakers front office and coaching staff Tuesday, according to the team.

Arguably the most talented pool of players the Lakers have brought in yet features Rabb as the centerpiece. Considered a likely lottery pick a year ago, Rabb’s stock fell precipitously after a second year at Cal and Draft Express now projects him as the 25th-best prospect in the current class.

Rabb averaged 14 points and 10.5 rebounds during his sophomore season, and could be a candidate for the Lakers with the 28th overall pick they received from the Houston Rockets in exchange for Lou Williams at the 2017 trade deadline.

It’s not just Rabb in this group however. Every player on the list for the Lakers’ Tuesday session (with the exception of Rathan-Mayes) is one of Draft Express’ top-100 draft prospects, and are likely being looked at as candidates for the Lakers’ Las Vegas Summer League roster or if the team decides to buy a second-round pick.

Sterling Brown is also notably the brother of former Lakers guard Shannon Brown.

Here is an updating list of every player the Lakers have worked out or met with. Harrison Faigen is co-host of the Locked on Lakers podcast (subscribe here), and you can follow him on Twitter at @hmfaigen.
