Isaiah Thomas fined $25,000 for telling fan ‘I’ll f*** you up’

Some strong words from IT4.

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas was fined $25,000 for his inappropriate language towards a fan during a May 7 playoff game against the Washington Wizards, the NBA announced.

Thomas appeared to have taken issue with a comment a Wizards fan made during Game 4 of Boston’s second-round series with the Wizards. He told the fan “I’ll f--- you up,” and to “come down here and say that.”

It is unclear what the fan said to provoke Thomas.

Boston’s All-Star guard has played with a heavy heart in recent weeks. A day before the playoffs began, Thomas lost his younger sister, Chyna, in an auto accident in his home state of Washington. He flew from Chicago to Tacoma, Wash., then back to Boston in the 48-hour span between the first and second round.

Thomas has also endured a great deal of physical pain.

He had his front tooth knocked out and at least two other teeth damaged after eating Otto Porter’s elbow in Game 1. He required “extensive oral surgery to stabilize” those teeth, according to the Associated Press. Thomas also slammed his face into the court in Game 2, though the Celtics refuted reports of a broken jaw.

The All-Star guard has played through it all. But he wasn’t playing with this Wizards fan, and absorbed a fine because of it.
