[Men's Basketball] Tigers pleased to welcome Tryston Swartz to 2017 recruiting class
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — ONU men's basketball is pleased about its most recent addition to the 2017 recruiting class. Head coach Ralph Hodge and the Tigers have added 6'1" guard, Tryston Swartz, from Elkhart, Indiana. He played for Elkhart Memorial High School during his prep career.
During the 2016-17 season, Swartz was instrumental in helping Elkhart Memorial move from seventh in the Northern Lakes Conference a year ago to a second place finish this season by winning eight more games. Swartz averaged 7.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists and shot a team-high 59 percent from the field during his senior season. He had career games against Hobart (15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) and Washington (12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists).
In addition to playing for the Chargers, Swartz ran played baseball and tennis. Also, during his high school career was involved in AAU, playing for Tipping Point. He traveled to sites in Illinois and Fort Wayne and Indianapolis.
Swartz plans on studying Business Management/Administration while at Olivet. He earned top Math and Business student awards and was named Math Student of the Month during his time at Elkhart Memorial. Tryston and his family attend Elkhart Northside Church of the Nazarene. He has been on two mission trips; one to Nicaragua in 2014 and another to Tennessee later that same year.
