[Men's Basketball] Men Fall in Conference Finals

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich.--The Rochester College men's team fell just short of their bid to win their first ever A.I.I. Tournament Conference Championship Sunday evening as the Washington Adventist University Shock upended the Warriors 78-63.  The Warriors still clinched an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament by virtue of playing in the Conference finals.

The Warriors opened up an early seven point lead, but the Shock fought back to take a five point lead with five minutes left in the first half.  The Warriors would later regain the lead and the two teams would trade baskets before the Shock would take a one point advantage into halftime.  The second half was back and forth until Washington Adventist went on a 12-2 run to take a 10 point lead with just over five minutes left in the game.  RC wasn't able to recover as the Shock handed the Warriors just their second loss of the season.

Justin Nafso (Walled Lake, Mich./Walled Lake Central HS) led the way for RC with his 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.  Angelo Griffis (Kalamazoo, Mich./Ferris State University) added 16 points and 7 rebounds and Jaylen Larry (Flint, Mich./Kalamazoo Valley CC) finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds.

The Warriors will find out who they will play in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament during the NAIA Selection Show on Wednesday, March 1st at 7:00pm.  The National Tournament will begin March 8th in Point Lookout, MO.
