March Madness coming to Chase Center in ’22

Eighty-three years after holding a regional final in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in 1939, San Francisco will get another chance.

The NCAA announced Tuesday that the Pac-12 will host the 2022 West Regional, March 24-26, at the Warriors’ Chase Center, scheduled to open for the start of the 2019-20 NBA season.

Warriors President and chief operating officer Rick Welts said the game will be “great for not only the city of San Francisco, but the entire Bay Area to come see some of the best in college basketball.”

The San Francisco-based Pac-12 is “eager to share the madness of March with the city’s and Bay Area’s passionate sports fans,” Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said in statement.
