Brandon Ingram reveals when his heel injury first came up
During the season-ending interviews taking place at this moment, Brandon Ingram shared some insight on his heel injury that kept him out for games six and seven of their first-round matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“It’s something that I’ve been dealing with; it flared up in March, didn’t have enough time to rest it, trying to make the playoffs,” said Ingram on when the heel injury first started bothering him.
“Playing 18 games last season, I prided myself on playing every game, and it got to the point where I couldn’t push off of it. I wanted to come back, but the staff ruled me out; that was frustrating,” is what Ingram concluded with on the questions about his heel injury.
It sounded like BI3 was ready to risk it all in order to try and clinch the series win for his team, but the coaching staff thought more of the future rather than just a short term sucsess story.
Like the Duke product mentioned, he played in just 18 games last season for the New Orleans Pelicans, and didn’t even suit up for a single game after being acquired by the Raptors at the trade deadline, during the 2024/25 regular season. This season, he played in 77 games, the second most of his career since his rookie season of 79 games played with the Los Angeles Lakers. Ingram earned the second All-Star berth of his career to help Toronto finish fifth in the Eastern Conference and clinch their first playoff berth since 2021/22.
