Texas lands TCU transfer David Punch
By JAMES MADDEN
Texas has landed its second top-15 transfers in as many days, landing a commitment from TCU transfer David Punch on Sunday night, he confirmed to ZAGSBLOG.
Less than 48 hours after landing Colorado transfer Isaiah Johnson, Punch has made the decision to stay in-state and play for Sean Miller and the Longhorns next season.
A 6-foot-7 forward, Punch averaged 14.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in 34 appearances for the Horned Frogs this season. Punch notably recorded 16 points and 13 rebounds in TCU’s first-round win over Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament.
In addition to the commitment from Johnson, Punch will join a recruiting class headlined by top-20 forward Austin Goosby, with the Longhorns primed to be a pre-season national title contender.
Coming off a season as one of the best forwards in the Big 12, Punch will play alongside Texas’ star center, Matas Vokietaitis, forming one of the top big men tandems in the nation.
