Kansas’ Darryn Peterson says he was hospitalized with cramping issues

By JAMES MADDEN

Kansas star Darryn Peterson revealed to the media on Friday that he was hospitalized with severe cramps earlier this season, and needed iV bags to resolve the issue, following Kansas’ loss to Houston in the Big 12 tournament semifinals.

In a interview from the Kansas City Star’s Shreyas Laddha, Peterson called the cramps a “traumatic experience.”

“I had like a full-body (cramp), super serious,” Peterson said. “You could say it was traumatic. I would say it was a traumatic experience.”

Peterson missed 11 games this season due to ongoing cramping issues, while also nursing other hamstring and quad injuries, but appears to be the healthiest he’s been this season as the Big Dance approaches.

The Jayhawks lost in the semifinals to Houston on Friday, 69-47, in which Peterson tallied 14 points and four rebounds in the blowout loss.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi projects Kansas as a No. 4 seed, so the Jayhawks will have to wait until Sunday for their matchup and location in next week’s NCAA Tournament.
