College hoops going international? Here’s the latest

Intersport and Rochelle Management Group have announced their plans to sponsor an annual College Basketball International Series, per release. The event will feature Croatian club KK Cibona and will schedule games in Croatia and at the famous Belgrade Arena in Serbia.
“As programs here in the United States continue to prioritize international prospects as part of their recruiting efforts, bringing high-level, premier college basketball events to talent-rich destinations is an incredible opportunity and next step in the extension of the sport,” said Mark Starsiak, senior vice president and GM of Basketball at Intersport. “We’re proud to have incredible partners in this endeavor and are eager to make the International Series a reality.”
Basketball Hall of Fame members Toni Kukoč and Vlade Divac are set to work as ambassadors for the event. Kukoč will assist the operations in Croatia, while Divac will help with operations in Serbia.
“Working alongside pioneering Eastern European basketball legends like Toni Kukoč and Vlade Divac to bring college basketball back to Europe is incredibly exciting,” said Rochelle. “These icons helped build the bridge between European and American basketball decades ago, and now we have the opportunity to bring the next generation of players to compete in front of the fans and communities that shaped the global game. It’s a powerful full-circle moment for the sport.”
The date for the new event has not yet been announced, but it is targeted for as early as November 2026.
