Villanova starting forward Matthew Hodge will now miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL suffered during Saturday’s loss to St. John’s at Madison Square Garden, the school announced on Monday.

Hodge’s injury comes just a few months after his younger brother, Jayden, a Northwestern commit, suffered a torn ACL during his high school season.

Jayden Hodge is “ahead of schedule” and is expected to head to Northwestern in late June, his father Odell told ZAGSBLOG.

“Matt is a tremendous person with an unbelievable work ethic,” Villanova head coach Kevin Willard said.  “We know he will be back better than ever.”

A 6-foot-8 forward originally from Belgium who starred at St. Rose High School in Belmar, N.J., Hodge has averaged 9.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 29 games for the Wildcats this season.

Villanova will be without one of their top forwards for the remainder of the season, as the Wildcats enter the final week of the regular season at 22-7.
