Four-star guard Martay Barnes commits to Florida State

Class of 2026 four-star guard Martay Barnes has announced his commitment to Florida State. The 6-foot-2 guard from Orlando chose the Seminoles over Auburn on Thursday.
A current senior at The Academy of Central Florida (FL), Barnes was originally a member of the class of 2027, before reclassifying and announcing his intentions to graduate this year.
He visited both schools within three days of each other, but ultimately decided to commit to play for head coach Luke Loucks and the Seminoles.
Barnes broke down his recruitment with ZAGSBLOG this past summer, but particularly spoke about his relationship with Florida State.
“Florida State’s another one man. Coach [Michael] Fly and the whole coaching staff, everybody around there, it’s lovely man,” he said. “They text almost every day. So that’s a big one for sure. Because it’s right around the corner, it’s in Florida right back at home. So it’s just a big one.”
Notably, Barnes spent his summer as a member of the Austin Rivers SE Elite program on the 3SSB circuit.
He is Florida State’s fifth commit in the class of 2026. He joins Marcis Ponder, Brandon Bass Jr., Collin Paul and Jasen Lopez to round out the recruiting class thus far.
Barnes is rated a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 90 overall prospect in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports.
