G-League guard Dink Pate exploring college options
By JAMES MADDEN
Current Westchester Knicks guard Dink Pate has began exploring collegiate options, his agent Sam Permut said, Jonathan Givony announced. Pate has appeared in 13 games for Westchester this season, averaging 33.5 minutes per game, while tallying 18.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
Pate’s agent told ZAGSBLOG that his client has received interest from over 50 schools since beginning this process.
Givony also wrote that Pate, who is a product of the G-League Ignite has declined multiple two-way offers from NBA teams, in an attempt to preserve his college eligibility.
The 19-year-old guard has spent three seasons playing professional basketball, previously playing for the G-League Ignite and the Mexico City Capitanes of the NBA G-League.
A four-star recruit in high school, Pate garnered interest from many high-major programs, including Alabama, Arizona, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas.
Pate’s decision comes as multiple NBA G-League players have been granted eligibility to play in college recently, and as current G-League Charles Bediako is suing the NCAA for additional eligibility.
