Michael O'Brien's Super 25 high school basketball rankings for Jan. 18, 2026
It is another week with no movement at the top as the top 12 teams in the Super 25 remain stable.
The upcoming weekend may finally provide some drama. Joe Henricksen's When Sides Collide Shootout on Saturday at Benet matches up the top-ranked Redwings against Warren, No. 2 DePaul Prep against No. 7 Marist and No. 9 Neuqua Valley vs. No. 8 Bolingbrook.
However, if the favorites all win it could be another week with very little movement.
Cary-Grove and Glenbrook North join the Super 25 this week. It is the debut for both teams this season.
Cary-Grove has been on the cusp of the rankings since it knocked off Waukegan back in November. The Trojans have won nine consecutive games.
Glenbrook North is a surprise. There wasn't much buzz around the Spartans this season, but they are undefeated in 2026 with wins against Deerfield, Maine South and New Trier. They hung with Fremd in a 47-41 loss at the Wheeling Hardwood Classic.
New Trier and St. Laurence each lost two games this week and fall out of the rankings. The Trevians played well without Chris Kirkpatrick initially but have hit a rough patch.
