Five-star Prolific Prep (CA) guard Caleb Holt is expected to sign during the late signing period in the spring, his father told ZAGSBLOG.

The late period begins April 15. The early period ended Wednesday.

“We’re done with visits,” Desman Holt, Caleb’s father, told ZAGSBLOG. “We were able to move the Houston visit up to the last weekend of October. It is highly unlikely that Caleb will commit before the end of the early signing period. We place a lot of value into getting a healthy sample size of games before finalizing things. Watching a sufficient amount of games before making a decision is where we are now.”

As for the Houston visit, Desman said: “[The] message from the Houston visit was to come in and fill the offensive void left by Emanuel Sharp (Senior) and defend the opposing team’s best player on a nightly basis.”

The 6-5 Holt is ranked the No. 1 shooting guard in the Class of 2026, per 247Sports.com. He has visited Houston, Providence, Kentucky, Alabama and Arkansas.

As a sophomore, Holt averaged 20.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game and was named the Alabama Mr. Basketball, the Class 6A Player of the Year, the Gatorade and MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year and ASWA Super All-State. Holt led Buckhorn (Ala.) to a second state title and was named MVP of the state tournament.

“[He’s a] consummate winner and two-way impact [player],” Prolific Prep coach Ryan Bernardi said. “Caleb will go down as one of the most accomplished high school players in the recent history.”
