Five-star guard Austin Goosby pledges to Texas
By ADAM ZAGORIA
Five-star Class of 2026 guard Austin Goosby is staying home.
Goosby, the 6-foot-5 combo guard out of Melissa (TX), chose the Longhorns over Duke, Baylor and BYU.
“I will be taking my talents to the 40 Acres, to the University of Texas,” he said on CBS Sports.
“First day on campus, Sean Miller, first 2026 he called was me so straight from the jump I knew I was a priority there, and they’ve never stopped building a relationship with me and having the same goal in mind with me.
“[Miller] said we’re trying to win a national championship and that’s what I’m coming in to do.”

Mainly, Goosby was looking for a place that will develop him as a player and a person. The four-star is ranked the No. 27 overall player in the 2026 class by 247Sports.
He joins Coleman Elkins, Bo Ogden, and Joe Sterling in Texas’ 2026 class.
“You could put him in any situation and he will fit,” Melissa head coach Stephen Friar previously told ZAGSBLOG. “The game is slow for him, and he understands it. He does a great job of knowing what his team needs to be successful and plugging in the holes wherever they’re lacking something. Obviously he’s a great scorer. Very athletic, and a good defender, but his best quality is he is a great teammate.”
