Kansas’ Bill Self gives update on Darryn Peterson ahead of Champions Classic
By JAMES MADDEN
Kansas head coach Bill Self provided an update on star freshman Darryn Peterson on Saturday, following Kansas’ 76-57 win over Princeton.
“We’re not obviously gonna have him, at least for the immediate future. I just don’t know how long that’ll be.” Self told reporters. “He’s got tightness in his right hamstring. I’m not gonna put him out there until he feels well.”
Kansas is three days away from a meeting in the annual Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York. The Jayhawks are set to face off with Cameron Boozer and Duke on Tuesday night.
Boozer is coming off a 35-point, 12-rebound night on Friday in a 100-62 rout of Indiana State.
Self has remained quiet about the extent and timeline of Peterson’s injury, but it sounds like Kansas will likely be without its star on Tuesday night in New York.
