The New York Knicks suffered their first home loss of the season on Wednesday night to the Orlando Magic, but many fans were more concerned about the status of the team’s All-NBA guard.

Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson sustained a Grade 1 right ankle sprain on Wednesday, according to Shams Charania. The star guard turned his ankle on a drive with 1:54 remaining in the game against the Magic before walking off the court on his own.

What may sound like unfortunate news to most may actually be a sigh of relief to many within the Knicks organization. Brunson reportedly left Madison Square Garden in a walking boot and crutches after the game, leading many to be concerned with the status of the Knick captain.

Now, Brunson’s timeline will reportedly be day-to-day with the guard being ruled out of the Knicks contest against the Miami Heat at home on Friday.

New York is off to a 7-4 start including a 7-1 start at home this season. Brunson is averaging 28.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game so far this season, without him the rest of the Knicks will need to step up their production in multiple areas to make up for the absence of one of the best players in the Eastern Conference.
