Duke freshman star Cam Boozer impresses in preseason debut

BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ

After BYU’s star prospect AJ Dybantsa impressed in his preseason debut, Duke’s own star freshman reminded people he too deserves consideration for the best prospect college basketball has to offer.

Duke star freshman, and son of former NBA all-star Carlos Boozer, Cam Boozer made his preseason debut for the Blue Devils on Tuesday.

The do it all forward put up a 33 point, 12 rebound and 4 assist performance against UCF while shooting a dominant 12-19 from the field and 4-7 from long distance.

The No. 1 overall pick for the 2026 NBA Draft is presumably a three horse race heading into the 2025-26 college basketball season.

With Boozer and Dybantsa already showing they are the real deal, all eyes turn to the third potential No. 1 overall selection Darryn Peterson who will make his unofficial debut for Kansas on Friday against Louisville.

Duke’s storied legacy speaks for itself, boasting the second most NBA players by a college program this season at 24 former Duke players. Their future continues to seem bright, with the acquisition of five-star Class of 2026 recruit Bryson Howard on Tuesday. But if Boozer showed anything with his unofficial debut, its that Duke’s present continues to be that of a dominant program poised to compete for the National Championship.
