Four-star Colben Landrew commits to UConn: ‘Will be ready to compete from Day 1’
By JAMES MADDEN
UConn landed another commitment in the class of 2026, from four-star forward Colben Landrew.
Landrew is a 6-foot-6 senior at Wheeler HS (GA) and chose the Huskies over Ole Miss, Louisville, Purdue, Texas A&M and Mississippi State.
“Coach Hurley is fully committed to his team,” he told ESPN’s Paul Biancardi. “He is exactly the kind of coach I want and need to play for.”
Ranked as the No. 2 recruit in Georgia, he visited all six schools, most recently having visited UConn on October 4th.
“Colben is a super skilled and very versatile wing/forward. Can really guard 4 positions and is an excellent rebounder on both sides of the ball. His physical strength and shooting abilities is what separates him from your typical college freshman,” Wheeler assistant Larry Thompson told ZAGSBLOG. “He is a high volume shoot maker with a ton of range on his jumper and is able to absorb contact in the paint when driving the ball to the basket. Elite passer and super unselfish! Will be ready to compete from day 1 when he steps on campus.”
Landrew spent his summer with Game Elite of the 3SSB circuit, teaming up with five-star guard Caleb Holt.
He is Dan Hurley and the Huskies’ second commit in the past two weeks, joining four-star Junior County, who announced his commitment to UConn on October 2nd.
Landrew is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 21 overall prospect in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports.
