Four-star center Davion Adkins commits to Kansas

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Davion Adkins, the four-star Class of 2026 center from Prolific Prep (FL), has committed to, he told ZAGSBLOG ahead of his public announcement Sunday night.

The 6-foot-9, 216-pound Adkins chose the Jayhawks over Houston and Rutgers.

“I will be taking my talents to the University of Kansas,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “I chose Kansas because of the relationships that my AAU coach had with the coaching staff and their plan for me to be an immediate impact on the court and help me on my path to get to the league.”

Asked on ESPN what Kansas was getting in him, he said. “They’ll get a dog, defender, scorer, they’ll get everything they want. They’ll get a national championship, too.”

Prolific Prep coach Ryan Bernardi said of Adkins:

“Davion has immense upside due to his ability to play inside and out. He impacts the game at a high level now and is a long way from his ceiling. We are thrilled for him as he makes his college decision.”

Adkins on Saturday underwent emergency surgery in Las Vegas for a sports hernia, and is expected to be sidelined 3-4 weeks.

Newly-minted Kansas commit Tay Kinney said he was recruiting both Adkins and Tyran Stokes to join him.

“I’m a dog,” Adkins told ZAGSBLOG earlier this year. “I’m not going to give up. I play through everything, play through every hit, every contact, every little hit, every little bit of adversity and just keep playing.”

Five-star wing Javon Bardwell also committed this week to play for the Jayhawks for the 2027-28 season.
