Archbishop Stepinac guard Hassan Koureissi commits to Fordham

Hassan Koureissi, the Class of 2026 point guard from Archbishop Stepinac and the PSA Cardinals, has committed to Fordham, he told ZAGSBLOG.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Koureissi visited Fordham earlier this month, and Rams assistant coach Ryan Hyland has been hot on his trail ever since.
“I will be taking my talents to Fordham University,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “Coach [Mike] Magpayo had a great resume with guards like me, one prime example being Zyon Pullin. His offensive approach will be big for me and opening up my game.”
As for the visit itself, the Harlem, NY native said: “That went great, I got to meet the new coaching staff that’s up there. I got to spend time with the team and I got to play a little bit, go up and down.”
And what is Fordham’s message?
“They were very open and honest with me, telling me that it’s not going to be easy, knowing the type of coach [Mike Magpayo] is. He’s not going to fake it at all, he’s going to tell me the truth at all times. He wants to make sure I play hard.”
And what skillset will he bring to college?
“I’m a guy that’s a leader first, that’s gonna get out there every day, play defense, make the right reads, whether it’s my shot or the next teammate’s shot,” he said.
Said Stepinac coach Pat Massaroni: “Hassan is just scratching the surface. He is someone in my opinion who was under recruited in this current college basketball landscape and is extremely skilled on and off the ball with untapped upside.
“He’s a long and athletic lead guard who is crafty for his age. And in the end a winner!”
