Toledo men's basketball begins practice with an eye on defense

When 18 wins and a fourth-place finish in the Mid-American Conference season is a bad year, it’s proof that the program is in a good spot. And University of Toledo men’s basketball coach Tod Kowalczyk wouldn’t quibble much with the assessment of the 2024-25 season. The Rockets were inconsistent, lacking on offense, and nonexistent on defense. The offseason included a roster overhaul and an infusion of confidence, with the belief inside the walls of Savage Arena and the Chapman Basketball Complex that Toledo’s winning ways — the Rockets won four consecutive MAC titles in 2021-24 — were only on a one-year hiatus.
