Transfer Frenzy Continues at HS Level
BY ZACH SMART
As a transfer portal of its own continues to erupt on the high school landscape, Davidson Day School (NC) made a big splash last month when Class of 2026 forward Cody Peck opted to return home for his heavily anticipated senior season.
The 6-foot-11 Peck, who developed his body and gained strength at Florida power IMG Academy as a junior, prospered as a defensive stonewall while displaying two-way versatility with Garner Road on the 3SSB circuit this summer.
Propelled by dazzling athleticism and mobility at his size, Peck was a thunderous lob finisher who was able to generate offensive possessions with his rebounding on both sides of the floor. He’s able to spread the floor with his shooting touch and has also shown a significant comfort level in putting the ball on the deck.
“Motor is a big thing I’ve been working on this summer,” said Peck, who recently told ZAGSBLOG he is hearing from Dayton and Tennessee the most actively.
“Just trying to impact the game in as many ways as I can. I can play on the perimeter and in the post. (Transferring to Davidson Day) will allow me to be more offensively aggressive and play through mistakes, which I think should be good for my development.”
Peck is also hearing from the likes of Alabama, LSU, Illinois, and SMU, among others.
As previously reported by Sam Lance, Peck is slated for official visits to both Tennessee (Oct.24) and Dayton (Sept.19).
In a move which better suits them location-wise and simultaneously allows them to play more local games, Prolific Prep is now in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The program has built a powerful roster behind a crop of top-shelf and nationally ranked talent, including Ohio State-commit Alex Smith, electrifying left-handed guard Nasir “Rudy” Anderson, as well as Class of 2027 6-foot-8 wing Bruce Branch III.
A transfer via Perry HS (AZ), the high flying and versatile Branch III is currently ranked No.2 in his class.
The 6-foot-5 Holt, who boasts a game innately predicated on scoring and operating offense, made headlines this summer with his refined outside shooting touch.
A transfer via Grayson HS (GA), Holt made headlines this summer as he shot 50 percent from beyond the arc. Becoming a deadly shooter had been a major focus for Holt throughout the past 12 months.
“Everything about my game really just emphasizes winning,” Holt said during the Hoophall Classic at Springfield College this past winter.
“I’m more of a downhill player, a big guard. I’ve really been working every day with my shooting, developing the confidence that’s necessary to shoot it and be a big time shot-maker.” With Prolific’s style of play, Holt will be a focal point in system that’s known to be ball screen heavy.
“Caleb has a lot of indicators that his shooting has taken a big step forward,” said Prolific Prep head coach Ryan Bernardi.
Bernardi’s team will play in numerous high profile events, including the City of Palms. The schedule will include multiple matchups with traditional Florida Prep powers IMG and Montverde Academy.
In another high-profile transfer, Class of 2026 guard/wing Chidi Nwigwe announced he will be transferring from Sunrise Christian to Wasatch Academy in Utah. A long, versatile scoring threat with a deep arsenal at 6-foot-7, the four-star Nwigwe currently holds offers from the likes of Michigan, Providence, Stanford, NC State, Ohio State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Illinois, and several others.
