Cameron Boozer Back To #1 For The 2026 NBA Draft?
Totally meaningless discussion right now.
It’s a bit early for this discussion, but Cameron Boozer, at least in some people’s minds, has moved back to the top of the 2026 NBA Draft Board.
This according to NBA Draft, an SI site.
To set the table, there are basically three guys currently getting mentioned for the #1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft - Boozer, AJ Dybantsa of BYU and Darryn Peterson of Kansas.
Or at least they will all start to play for those teams in a few months.
None of them have proven anything in college yet, but all three are clearly gifted young talents.
However, the reality of college ball is that any of them could exceed or undershoot expectations.
Furthermore, we don’t even know who is definitely in the lottery, much less who will win said lottery.
So there’s a lot to chew on between now and then, not least of all this: it’s possible, if unikely, that Boozer might not be the most highly sought after player on Duke’s team. He probably will be, but there’s a chance that Dame Sarr, Nik Khamenia or his own brother Cayden might surpass him.
Truth is, there’s no way to know until we see their weaknesses exposed - and every player has them. Muggsy Bogues talked about the difference between Michael Jordan and LeBron James being that Jordan had no weaknesses.
Well, we get his point, but Jordan had some weaknesses in how he dealt with people and especially teammates. No one is perfect.
So we’ll have to wait to see what Boozer shows us. It’s entirely possible that he is everything he’s said to be. It’s also possible that, like so many others, he gets painfully laid bare on national TV.
Not saying it’ll happen, just that it does happen. So maybe don’t worry so much about stuff like this until we see how the season unfolds.
