Four-star 2026 prospect Christian Gibson planning official visits
BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ & SAM LANCE
Four-star class of 2026 prospect Christian Gibson is planning to set up official visits to some of the programs near the top of his list soon.
“I just talked to UNLV the other day, we were talking about setting up an official visit,” Gibson told ZAGSBLOG. “I also talked to Vanderbilt the other day, and they were talking about doing an official visit and setting it up.”
The 6-foot-4 guard has dominated the EYBL circuit with his shooting ability this summer, ranking second amongst all scorers in the EYBL (22.6 points per game).
“I’ve just been working on game reps and working on getting to my spots,” Gibson said. “At the end of the day I am confident in the shots I take because I work on them everyday.”
Gibson said that he is at his most comfortable pulling up inside the arc.
“Really, anything in the mid-range area,” he said. “Anything within the 3-point line, I would say, is my sweet area because I feel like I have perfected the art of just rising up and shooting.”
Gibson’s scoring prowess has multiple college programs interested. In Gibson’s last update with ZAGSBLOG, schools such as Baylor, Tennessee, Texas, UNLV and Vanderbilt were discussed. He said those programs are still in there for him, while Oklahoma State, Virginia and Virginia Tech have really picked up their recruiting efforts lately. Other schools involved include Houston, Ole Miss and TCU.
Gibson gave thoughts on some of the new programs in contact:
Oklahoma State: “I really like Oklahoma State. Coach Steve Lutz and the new coach that just got there [Dana Valentine], he hit me up and we’re looking to set an official visit up there. But really Oklahoma State, I’ve been to Stillwater once and I really liked the city. I really liked the vibes out there. And I know if I go there, their coaching staff will believe in me and trust in me and develop me as a player and just as a man so I can get ready for the next level.”
Virginia: “It’s been great. Coach [Ryan] Odom has expressed how he loves my game. Whenever he offered me, he talked about how he really loves my playstyle and how he thinks I can excel in their program. And I really do believe that. Growing up, Virginia was my dream school. So getting that offer was a blessing for real, and when I got it, I was of course excited, but more importantly is that I really love their play style. I really love the coaching staff; they’re one of the coaches that have been hitting me up a lot too. So they’re really up there on the list as well.”
Virginia Tech: “I really like how the coaching staff is really like on to me. They really reach out to me. Because you know obviously as a player, I want to feel like I’m being seen by the coaching staff. I don’t want to just feel like another recruit because you want to go somewhere where you are loved and you know where you’re welcome. So just that part alone really separates some from what other schools have to offer, because with me, everything’s about relationships. And l’m talking to the coach and staff constantly, and they’re constantly letting me know what they’re doing and all that. It just it just feels right with me. And I love how they work as a program.”
The four-star guard said he’s close to narrowing down his options. After Peach Jam, Gibson will sit down with his family and discuss what’s the right fit for him and who has the best intentions for his future. He hopes to have a decision made before the start of the high school basketball season.
Gibson is ranked No. 68 overall recruit in the 2026 recruiting class by 247Sports.
