Tyrese Proctor Update: A Good Start To Summer League Play
Duke fans know what Cleveland has.
As expected, Tyrese Proctor fell to the second round in June’s NBA Draft, but he wound up in a great situation.
Cleveland has been building intelligently and appears to have some good guys on the roster.
One of the cooler things that happened for Proctor after the draft was that Donovan Mitchell called him to welcome him to the team.
Proctor said this about what he wants to learn from Donovan: “He’s a great player. Just seeing his daily work and his habits, I think it’s going to be really cool to just be a sponge.”
He also talks here about Duke coach Jon Scheyer explaining that defense will make you important everywhere: “I think defense is a big one no matter where you go. I know that’s what Coach [Jon] Scheyer preached to me at Duke.”
Offensively, in his first summer league outing, Proctor shot 5-13 and 3-7 from deep. He finished with 14 points, one rebound, two assists and two steals.
Also on the roster incidentally is former Miami big Norchad Omier, who shot 7-10 for 17 and had nine boards. Not bad.
