Iowa State lands commitment from 2026 prospect Marcus Zelee
By JAMES MADDEN
Class of 2026 guard Marcus Zelee committed to Iowa State on Wednesday, he announced on X.
Zelee, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard from Brentwood Christian School (TX) and the ASAK Adidas 3SSB AAU program, chose the Cyclones over Division I offers from Arizona State, Drake and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
“I chose Iowa State because I felt from the moment I stepped into Ames, it was home,” Zelee told ZAGSBLOG. “The players set the culture, which is a huge plus for me. I felt very welcomed by any and everybody I met.”
Spending his summer with ASAK of the 3SSB circuit, Zelee has played a crucial role in his team’s 5-3 start to the season, averaging 7.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He’s known for his elite athleticism and defense.
“Hard-nosed grit,” Zelee said of what he’ll bring to Iowa State. “Energy player and a motor to the team. I’ll bring the best defensive guard the NCAA has seen in a long time. I’m for the city and for the people, and I will be the best version of myself 24/7.”
Zelee is Iowa State’s third commit in the class of 2026, joining Christian Wiggins and Yusef Gray Jr.
