2025 NBA Free Agency: Discussion Thread
How will free agency go for the Lakers with a new direction under Luka Doncic and Mark Walters?
With the NBA Draft finished and the Lakers taking Adou Thiero with the 36th pick, it is time for free agency and all that comes with it.
Lakers free agents
LeBron James has opted into his $52.6 million player option. Dorian Finney-Smith has opted out of his $15.3 million player option. If he signs with another team, the Lakers will have the full mid-level exception. If he returns at the same cost, then the Lakers have the taxpayer mid-level exception.
The Lakers picked up the $2.3 million team option on Jordan Goodwin. Christian Koloko is a restricted free agent after the Lakers extended a qualifying offer to him.
Jaxson Hayes, Alex Len and Markieff Morris are all unrestricted free agents.
Players linked to the Lakers
- Kristaps Porzingis was traded to the Hawks in a three team trade.
- Daniel Gafford signed an extension with the Mavericks but is still trade-eligible
- Walker Kessler is one to keep an eye out for and is on the last year of his rookie contract
- Jalen Duren is also on the last year of his rookie deal
