Duke, Texas Have A Big Game On Tap This Fall
What a nice honor for a good man
Well this is pretty cool: looks like Duke and Texas will play on November 4th in the inaugural Dick Vitale Invitational.
There’s a pretty cool story here - apparently ESPN had been discussing this for quite some time but Dicky V only heard about it fairly recently and describes the revelation as “a shock.”
Vitale, now 86, has fought multiple bouts with cancer in recent years as you probably know, and is lucky to be here. Well, that’s not entirely true.
He’s lucky in that he has great doctors, but his indomitable spirit has a lot to do with it too. The guy has never given up, never given in and just keeps punching away.
So it’s pretty cool that Duke is in the first Dicky V event. We’re not sure what to expect out of Texas yet since Sean Miller is the coach now. He is a solid coach and a good, uh, recruiter, but he hasn’t always done well in the postseason and at UT, if you can’t get over that hump, you may be a short timer.
The game will be held in Charlotte, so that’s good news for anyone near campus who wants to go to the game.
