NBA Finals stat kings: The leaders at each category through the years
LeBron James may have a 4-6 record in the NBA Finals, but his stats are unimpeachable. In 10 trips to the championship series, he led all teams in scoring six times, rebounding five times, assists eight times, steals four times and blocks once. That versatility makes him the only player in NBA history to lead each major statistical category at least once in the Finals.
His overall 24 leads are more than double the next closest challengers – Tim Duncan, Shaquille O’Neal, and Magic Johnson, who are all tied with 11 apiece.
Duncan, by the way, is the only non-Laker or Celtic in the Top 10 – a list otherwise dominated by the league’s two most storied franchises.
Here’s a breakdown of who led each Finals series in the five main counting stats through the years. Final tally at the bottom of the page!
