The Cavs brought in a 6’10” wing for a pre-draft workout

The Cleveland Cavaliers worked out Temple wing Steve Settle III on Wednesday, according to HoopsHype and One Motive Sports. Settle joins Cliff Omoruyi and Ian Martinez as prospects we know the Cavs have worked out. Cleveland currently has the 49th and 58th picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Temple played three seasons at Howard before transferring to Temple for his final two. This past season, he averaged 12.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, one steal, and one block per game in 31 outings.

It’s not often that you find 6’10” wings who shot 41.6% on 3.6 threes per game this past season at Temple available late in the second round. That’s especially true for someone like Settle, who’s also shown to be a solid defender.

There are, however, reasons why Settle could still be available late in the second round.

He’s already 24 years old and will turn 25 around the All-Star break next year. For context, Settle is just a month younger than Isaac Okoro, who’s already spent five seasons in the NBA. Additionally, he’s only 180 pounds, which is light for someone his size and inherently limits his ability to play the four at the professional level.

Those concerns aside, the Cavs could do much worse than rolling the dice on someone with Settle’s length and skillset. That’s especially true as they need to continue to find cost-controlled rotation pieces now that they find themselves in the second apron.

Currently, Settle is projected to go undrafted. Most draft boards don’t include Settle in their top 60. NBADraft.net doesn’t even have Settle in their top 100 big board.

Settle is someone to keep an eye on with either Cleveland’s last pick or as someone they bring in as an undrafted free agent.
