Friday discussion: Will Steph Curry win another title?
Let’s hope so!
It’s been a few weeks since the Golden State Warriors season came to an end with a 4-1 Western Conference Semifinals loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. And while most of us have gotten over the disappointing end to the season, the Conference Finals matchup between the Wolves and Oklahoma City Thunder did nothing to quell the sentiment that perhaps the Warriors could have made another run at a title had Steph Curry not suffered a hamstring strain that ultimately ended his season.
These things happen in the NBA, and they happen even more frequently with older players. So while the Warriors certainly had an absence of good luck in the 2025 playoffs, it’s hard to argue that they got exceptionally unlucky. It sure was a bitter pill to swallow, though.
But if the Warriors proved anything over the few months of the season post-Jimmy Butler III acquisition, it’s that their championship window is still open, even if the margin is fairly small. The Dubs will try to find ways to make the margin larger this offseason, as they’ll surely take a swing at some superstar acquisitions and, if they fail to land one, try to shore up their depth and playmaking.
And then they’ll reconvene next season, as a team with a championship core, but a fast-closing window.
So it brings up a pretty big question, where fan optimism and fan realism marry...
Will Steph Curry win another championship before he retires?
And hey, while I have you here, don’t forget to submit some questions for my Warriors mailbag.
