You Tube Gold: Jack Marin Highlights
One of Duke’s earliest NBA stars, Marin was a significant presence in the league.
Today we’ve gotten kind of used to seeing Duke players all over the NBA, but in the early 1970’s, it wasn’t like that. Really the only players who had substantial careers for a long time were Jeff Mullins and Jack Marin.
Marin finished up at Duke in 1966 with a run to the Final Four before being drafted by the Baltimore Bullets, going #5 in that year’s draft. The players ahead of him, in order: Cazzie Russell, Dave Bing, Clyde Lee and Lou Hudson.
Marin went on to a solid 11-year career in the NBA, making the All-Star team twice and playing for the Bullets, Houston, the Buffalo Braves and, finally, the Chicago Bulls.
After retirement, he went to law school and became a prominent attorney.
It doesn't say anything about it here, but he and Bill Bradley apparently used to get into it a bit and apparently didn’t much like each other.
You can see though that Marin had a smooth game and was capable of playing at the highest level. He and Mullins were both superb talents who thrived in the NBA.
