Brotherhood Draft Watch: Dallas Coach Jason Kidd On Cooper Flagg
Dallas seems impressed
There have been rumors and suggestions that Dallas might trade the #1 pick which means Cooper Flagg. Specifically, with Giannis unhappy in Milwaukee, that’s been one possibility floated. And with Boston contemplating shaking things up, a big trade for the #1 pick has been speculated about. However, Brad Stevens says the reason they talk to unavailable players at the NBA Combine is because that might be their only chance to do it. And he seriously doubts that Dallas will be interested in a trade.
And Mavs coach Jason Kidd seems high on Flagg:
“We love that kid from Duke,” Kidd told the DLLS Mavs podcast. “We have the No. 1 pick, and if we go after the young man from Duke, it gives us a lot of options because he can play multiple positions. You can have a jumbo lineup out there where you’re extremely big. And you also can go small. As a coach, but also as a Mavs fan, this is an exciting time.”
He’s talking about playing Flagg potentially at all five positions, which is kind of amazing. He’ll spend less time at center than anywhere else, but could he do a brief turn there? Why not?
In the link above, Kidd also touches on Kyrie Irving’s rehab and says the former Duke star is “in the right frame of mind” and suggests he might be back early. You can criticize Irving in various ways, but no one could ever say that guy isn’t willing to do the work.
