Hawaii transfer Marcus Greene commits to Fordham
By JAMES MADDEN
Hawaii transfer Marcus Greene is headed to play for Mike Magpayo and the Fordham Rams, he announced on Sunday.
“There are a few reasons why I chose Fordham. But I’d definitely say the coaching staff caught my attention, talking with them during recruitment, showed me how dedicated they are to winning and player development to further their players’ careers,” Greene told ZAGSBLOG. “It’s also an opportunity to further and advance my academic career at a prestigious university.”
Greene – a 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard chose the Rams over UTEP, Texas State and Bowling Green and just concluded a season at Hawaii where he averaged 7.3 points per game in 31 games played for the Rainbow Warriors. This was Greene’s third season at the collegiate level and his first at Hawaii, after previous stops at Houston Christian and Sacramento State. During the 2023-24 season with Houston Christian, Greene averaged 15.1 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game, while starting every game for the Huskies.
Greene’s best game of the season came on December 22, when he recorded 22 points, four rebounds and three assists on 8-of-15 shooting in a win against Charlotte. Greene scores four points and five points in his two games against his future head coach Mike Magpayo, with Magpayo serving as the head coach of UC Riverside before taking the vacancy at Fordham, following the firing of Keith Urgo.
“I believe I’ll bring Fordham a high-level of scoring and knowledge of the game.”
He is the seventh member of Fordham’s 2025 recruiting class and joins Abass Bodija (UC Riverside), Christian Henry (Eastern Michigan), Louis Lesmond (Harvard), Jace Howard (Michigan), Dejour Reaves (Iona) and Rikus Schulte (UC Riverside).
