Could Dallas Trade Cooper Flagg?
After sending Luka Doncic to L.A., another big move could be highly risky for management.
Pretty clearly, folks in Dallas are still traumatized by the trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. How can you tell?
People are already spooked about the possibility of GM Nico Harrison trading Cooper Flagg away.
Klay Thompson’s dad Mychal even suggests that Dallas may trade him to - you guessed it, L.A. - in five years, when, as he points out, Doncic will still be just 31.
More realistically, if Milwaukee decides to trade the Greek Freak, aka Giannis Antetokounmpo, that might be tempting. The Mavs could pair him with Anthony Davis for a devastating 1-2 frontcourt punch.
Give Harrison some credit though: it took balls to trade away a player like Doncic who had bonded so thoroughly with the fans. However, it made him immensely detested in Dallas. A guy who doesn’t give a rip what anyone thinks can survive that, but if you were to trade away a potentially great young player who might blossom elsewhere, well...people might get over the Doncic thing, but if you did it twice?
You might get run out of town for that.
