Brotherhood Playoff Watch: Jayson Tatum & Boston Blow Out Knicks 115-93
As the Celtics roll in a crucial Game 3.
There was no letdown for former Duke star Jayson Tatum and his Boston teammates in Game 3 of their series with the New York Knicks: the Celtics never trailed and built a 31 point lead on the way to a 115-93 win.
The Celtics shot horribly from three point range in the first two games but in this one, they hit 20-40. For his part, Tatum shot 8-20 overall and 5-9 from behind the line.
It was a statement game and the Celtics reveled in it, with Jaylen Brown saying this: “You’ve got to beat us four times. That’s what it comes down to. Not twice, not once, not three. You’ve got to win four games, so there’s a lot of basketball to be played.”
And after the game, Tatum said this:
“You understand what comes with being that guy. I live a great life, I ain’t going to lie. I make a lot of money. I take care of my family. I’ve been able to experience a lot of things, but you also have to accept what comes with that, right? I get a lot of praise. I get a lot of credit. I get a lot of accolades. But I’m not perfect and there’s times where I’ve needed to play better, I’ve needed to do more and that’s what comes with being that guy. So, just understanding that and people don’t just criticize me. There’s a lot of people that came before me that they criticized and there’s going to be people that come after me that they criticize.”
Pretty healthy attitude. Now we’ll see about Game 4.
It’s worth noting that in all three games, Boston has led by at least 20. They did blow the big leads in Game 1 and Game 2, but they still had built big leads.
If they can win the next game by a similar margin...well, it’s too early to say the series is over but Boston is good enough to win 4-2. Let’s see what happens next time.
