Flau’jae Johnson Blends Basketball and Hip-Hop With Caitlin Clark Shoutout

Flau’jae Johnson isn’t just torching defenders on the basketball court—she’s also setting fire to the mic. The LSU standout guard, who helped lead the Tigers to a national championship in 2023, continues to make waves in the music world with her latest song, which features a slick nod to none other than Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.

In a TikTok video posted May 9, Johnson delivered the bar: “Double-C on my jacket like Caitlin Clark,” blending a nod to Chanel’s iconic interlocking-C logo with a clever reference to Clark’s initials. The lyric landed with fans of both hip-hop and women’s basketball, especially after Johnson’s past verses have name-dropped stars like Angel Reese and NFL quarterback Joe Burrow.

Clark and Johnson faced off multiple times during their collegiate careers, and the respect between the two elite guards runs deep. In a March interview with Complex, Johnson praised Clark’s game, calling her the best passer she’s ever played against. “She was able to just facilitate,” Johnson said. “She’s definitely the hardest opponent I’ve ever had to play.”

The song marks another moment in Flau’jae’s growing music career, which already includes a collaboration with rap legend Lil Wayne. Balancing NCAA hoops and a recording career isn’t easy, but Johnson’s ability to dominate in both arenas is turning heads.

As for Clark, she’s currently adjusting to life in the WNBA after being named the 2024 Rookie of the Year. Whether or not she’ll be bumping Johnson’s track before tip-off this season remains to be seen, but the bar alone is proof that women’s basketball stars are shaping culture far beyond the hardwood.
