After a rookie season spent largely in the G League, Bronny James will continue his development with the Lakers Summer League team in the offseason.

After so much hullabaloo around the draft, Bronny James’ rookie season played out largely behind the scenes and without much fanfare.

Bronny made history with his father in the first game of the season, then spent the vast majority of the year in the G League. He found success developing behind the scenes and showed off just how far he’d come with a strong late-season performance against the Bucks.

His development will continue into the summer as he confirmed at the end of the season that he would play in Summer League once again this year.

Bronny took part in Summer League last season. After a rough start, he found his footing in the final games in Las Vegas, a not-too-dissimilar pattern to his regular season as well.

Seeing just how much more comfortable he is in Summer League will be worth watching. In general, second-year players typically look much better than their rookie counterparts, so that would be the hope for Bronny in these games.

Who joins him in Summer League will be interesting. Dalton Knecht seems like a potential inclusion, especially after his minutes dwindled later in the season. Quincy Olivari, who finished the season with South Bay, could play with the Lakers again, too.

The team, though, only has one second round pick right now, their own pick at No. 55. While they could purchase one, we’ve seen in recent seasons what having multiple young players who can’t make an impact in games does to a team’s depth, so that feels unlikely.

Regardless of who is on the roster, though, it’ll be another summer of all eyes on Bronny.
