Kentucky feeling hopeful about Lamont Butler’s status ahead of matchup against Alabama
BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ
Kentucky fans everywhere likely held their breath after Lamont Butler appeared to re-aggravate his shoulder injury against Oklahoma on Thursday. Fortunately, it may not be as bad as it seemed at the time.
“We got the best possible news about Lamont,” Kentucky coach Mark Pope said on Friday. “He’s gonna be in good shape, but we’re going to sit him tonight just to make sure. It would probably be a stretch to play him tonight because he’s got some soreness, but it was really good news this morning. We look forward to having him as we move forward.”
Kentucky is set to face off against Alabama in the SEC tournament on Friday. While they may have to endure this game without Butler, it appears as though his long-term status is not in jeopardy.
Butler averaged 11.5 points and 4 assists this season but exited Kentucky’s last game in the first half against Oklahoma with his injury.
