Basically good news

As you probably know if you’re reading this, Duke star Cooper Flagg suffered an ankle injury in the first half against Georgia Tech and only played 15 minutes.

He had to be helped off the court by Neil Begovich and Stanley Jordan and was later seen in a wheelchair, presumably heading further into the bowels of the Spectrum Center for an X-ray.

Obviously it was a sinking moment that appeared to be disastrous. So how bad was it?

Well, according to Jon Scheyer, we’re not likely to see him again in Charlotte this week, but the good news is that the X-Ray was negative, so there is no significant damage.

That doesn’t mean he’s pain free or even that he’ll be back to 100 percent imminently, but it does mean there’s no structural damage, so at some point soon he’ll be fine.

And if he and the trainers can be careful with his ankle until next Sunday, assuming Duke gets a #1 seed and plays a #16 seed on Friday, it can be a minimally difficult problem.

Let’s hope so, anyway.
