Multiple Cavs on injury report
The Cavs might be underhanded tonight.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have listed three notable players on the injury report for tonight’s game against the Brooklyn Nets. Ty Jerome is OUT while Donovan Mitchell and De’Andre Hunter are questionable.
Jerome will miss tonight’s game for rest. The breakout Sixth Man has had an excellent year and recently put himself in a position to join the 50/40/90 club. With only a few weeks left in the season — Jerome would be the first Cavalier since Mark Price to accomplish this. Former Cavs guard Kyrie Irving has also recorded a 50/40/90 season, just not in Cleveland.
Mitchell is questionable with a groin injury. Considering the Cavs have already put together one of the greatest regular seasons in franchise history — keeping their stars healthy for the playoffs will probably take priority down the stretch. We’ll see if Mitchell suits up tonight. But moving forward, you can expect more “questionable” player statuses. It’s all about staying fresh for the postseason, now.
Hunter is on the injury report with an illness. Cleveland has not lost a game since Hunter joined in February and is currently on a 14-game win streak overall. Losing Hunter, in addition to Jerom,e would put a heavy strain on the Cavs' bench. Yet, players like Isaac Okoro, Dean Wade, Sam Merrill and Craig Porter Jr. should be ready to ring the bell.
The Nets might be a lottery dweller but they aren’t pushovers. This team plays hard each night and won’t go down easy. The Cavs will have to treat their opponent with respect if they want to extend this win streak.
Update: Mitchell and Hunter will both miss Tuesday’s game.
