Sheffield Sharks take SLB Cup title over Surrey
Sheffield Sharks claimed the 2025 SLB Cup final with a 105-97 victory over Surrey 89ers at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on Sunday.
Trailing two at the halftime break, Sharks upped the intensity at both ends in the third quarter, behind Prentiss Nixton’s 16 points, creating enough of a cushion to keep the Niners at bay.
Donovan Clay had 23 points on 9/15 shooting, along with nine rebounds and four assists, while Rickey McGill and Prentiss Nixon had 24 points each.
“We came out here and set a goal and we got the job done tonight,” Nixon said after the game.
“Look at our wonderful fans up here man, they came out in full force for us. Surrey have a good team, they came out strong for the first three quarters but I’ll take my 12 against any 12 in this league. We got the job done tonight, on to the next!”
Surrey were led by 26 points from Mervin James and 24 from Jalen Ray.
