Reacts: Could Lakers earn a top-four seed in the West?
With the changes the Lakers have made to their roster and over a quarter of the season left, can they earn a top-four spot in the conference?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Los Angeles Lakers fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
With March here, this is the final full month of regular-season NBA action as we inch closer and closer to the postseason.
The Lakers are one of the hottest teams in basketball. They're currently on a five-game winning streak, have won eight of their last ten games and are fourth in the West.
Los Angeles is only a half-game behind the Memphis Grizzlies for third in the conference and a full game behind the Denver Nuggets for the second seed.
Given how well they’ve played and the fact that there is still plenty of room to improve the chemistry between Luka Dončić and the Lakers, fans believe Los Angeles can earn a top-four seed in the West.
With the vibes in L.A. being so good, if you’d like to place a bet on the Lakers to be a top seed in the West, win the conference, or be the next NBA champion, be sure to check out our friends at FanDuel.
Things are looking great for the Lakers right now, but the job is far from finished.
There is still plenty of basketball to play and with the Houston Rockets only a half-game behind the Lakers and teams such as the Golden State Warriors quickly rising up the standings, things are far from decided.
As good as L.A. has looked, all it takes is a losing streak and some injuries to derail things enough where they take a slight dip in the standings.
The Lakers are already dealing with some new injury issues. Rui Hachimura is out with left patellar tendinopathy and will be re-evaluated in one week and Austin Reaves left Friday’s contest against the Clippers early due to calf soreness.
Despite these injuries, the Lakers have kept on winning. So, it’s easier said than done, but if the Lakers can continue their current form for the rest of the season, they should be in a prime position to be not only a contender in the West but also a team to beat in the NBA.
