On Monday, Luka Dončić announced, through his Luka Dončić Foundation, that he would be donating $500,000 to LA for wildfire relief.

Barely a week after being traded to the Lakers, Luka Dončić is already getting involved with the community in a very impactful way.

On Monday morning, Luka announced through the Luka Dončić Foundation Twitter/X page that he would be making a $500,000 donation to Los Angeles wildfire relief.

Here’s the full copy of his statement, for those unable to see on X/Twitter:

It’s been so sad to see and learn more about the damage from the wildfires since I landed in LA.

I can’t believe it and I feel for all the kids who lost their homes, schools and the places where they used to play with their friends.

Today, my foundation is donating $500,000 to immediate recovery efforts. I am also committed to helping rebuild courts, playgrounds and fields that were destroyed, because every kid needs a safe place to play.

To everyone affected by these fires: we’re here to help, now and for the long haul.

Your new neighbor,

Luka

The devastation caused by the wildfires is so widespread that no person or even sports franchise is immune to it, including the Lakers.

Head coach JJ Redick lost his house to the fires while both LeBron James and former Laker Anthony Davis were among those who had to evacuate.

The franchise has also been involved in relief efforts as well. They joined forces with other Los Angeles sports teams to jointly donate $8 million to wildfire relief. The Lakers also held a donation drive as well in the week after they returned to action after having games postponed.
