KU beat writer Henry Greenstein talks men's basketball, season outlook on K-Nation

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - Bill Self and the Jayhawks have lost three of their last five games after falling to K-State in the second half of the Sunflower Showdown.

Lawrence Journal World's Henry Greenstein joined K-Nation's Caroline Soro on the court for a one-on-one interview following Saturday's game. One of the biggest takeaways, in Greenstein's eyes, after watching No. 16 KU in Manhattan, was the Jayhawks' defensive efforts.

"It's been so fascinating to watch just how inconsistent they've been from even one half to the next," Greenstein said. "From game to game there's no continuity. It seems like you can basically flip a coin and they'll either have a great defensive half or a terrible defensive half and [Saturday], they had two bad ones."

As far as the rest of the season goes for the Jayhawks? Greenstein thinks one of the biggest items on the agenda is to nail down a consistent fifth starter.

"Bill Self says all the time it doesn't matter who starts, it matters who finishes, but I think even their finishers haven't necessarily been consistent," Greenstein said. "I think the production from Rylan Griffen and AJ Storr has been so interesting, because much like the team itself, they'll have one great game and completely vanish in the next one."

The full interview with Greenstein aired in Sunday's episode of K-Nation, and can be watched above. K-Nation airs every Sunday night following 27 News at 10, only on KSNT.
